MG Motor Australia’s 2021 MG Show and Shine, supporting Australian Red Cross has now concluded. The month-long annual event celebrates the rich heritage and bright future for the MG brand and shines a spotlight on the many fascinating stories behind the cars and their owners.

Our owner's participation not only helped us to showcase the wide range of MG vehicles in Australia, but also helped contribute to a worthy cause with each submission equalling a donation to Australian Red Cross.

The day I purchased my MG, I was like a kid on Xmas eve but it was even better when I picked it up as I was a very beside myself! I love my car!

I’ve only had her for a few months, and I’ve been lockdown the whole time, so our daily 5km drives to the beach and back have been the best! I can’t wait to take her on a long road trip to Adelaide.

Only one memory, impossible! It started with a dream, two years finding the right one and then experiencing the feeling my MGB better known by some as 'Making Grins Bigger'. Just driving a classic on a sunny day, roof down enjoying the humming from the exhaust and bystanders waving as you drive, yeah!

I’ve owned my MG-F since new, over the years I’ve really enjoyed this little MG roadster and it’s timeless design. Recently I converted my MGF to 100% electric, the first of it’s type in Australia. It’s always been a fun little roadster to drive and now it gets juiced up via solar at home.

Favourite memory: my first drive - through the forest to Grants Picnic Ground, Kallista. I restored my MGB myself having found it on Gumtree 5 years earlier. Parked in a garage for 18 years it was filthy dirty and had rusty floors. It was a lot of work to restore it, but that first drive made it all worthwhile!

My father has had his MGB since he was 23 now 57 and still gives him a smile on his face his MG was the car I learnt to drive in. It’s a very fun car to drive I’ve completed overhauled the suspension myself and love the MGB.

TC6173 was assembled by my Father & I, with the help of many friends. Unfortunately my Father passed in May, and never saw it registered and on the road - a task my son and I performed.

My Midget was a 50th birthday present (total surprise) from my wife, my favourite memory was the first time I saw it coming around the corner on the back of a truck. She had arranged the purchase, had her father go on a test drive, and arrange transport from the Gold Coast to Cairns without me knowing.

Just driving the little car around a motor racing circuit, and passing larger and later model cars, is a great feeling. I love the looks on the other drivers faces as we go past.

Spring Afternoon 2020. Lucky to be able to drive to Avoca in Victoria to visit the Chinese Gardens. We had just taken delivery of the MG RV8 and the weather was beautiful to take it for its first run in it's new owners hands. The V8 engine purred all the way and the comfort of the leather seats was great.

Growing up as a Teenager I first saw an MG TC in a Car Yard for sale. I loved its sleek lines, a piece of art, it looked fast just sitting there and to this day it still has those proportions that make it worthy of belonging in an Art Gallery.

As a paramedic working during COVID I have maintained my mental health by restoring my 1974 MGB. Working in the garage with my sons researching and restoring the MG back to its former glory will be my lasting memory of these trying times.

I had a yellow 1965 MGB when I was a teenager and subsequently crashed it. I had many memories of those good times. Forward eight years later and I am re-living that dream, having recently purchased a 1970 blue MGB. I am now somewhat older, possibly wiser, but living the dream!

I have always loved MG's. I finally got my first MG in 2018, a 1965 MGB roadster in red. I have now owned three of these classic vehicles. I also have a teal blue 1970's MGB GT, which is such a cool and reliable little car. My favourite however is my 1959 MGA roaster in Brooklyn Green, pictured here

Favourite memory: Bringing it home for my wife as her first Mother’s Day gift in the early 80s but secretly knowing it was really for me! 40 years later and our children still love being in the MG as much as I do.

We bought the MGA Coupe from a deceased estate. It had been dismantled but the body shell had been repainted in the factory colour Mineral Blue. Peter spent many hours rebuilding it which was a labour of love but all the more difficult because he hadn’t pulled it apart. It was a great jigsaw puzzle.

The last of the cars designed and built in England, the ZT Two Sixty has all the style and panache reflecting its true British heritage with all the power and legs of a lazy American V8, in this case the 4.6 litre single overhead cam Modular V8 as used in the Mustangs of the period. Awesome

My favourite MG memory was taking on this MGB project after my father's passing. After much blood, sweat and tears and with grateful help from my mechanic friend, she was completed! Credit must also go to my photography friend for the photo shoot! I hope I did dad proud..

Favourite memory:  Current memory watching the wife collect her new HS, she was so excited and overwhelmed. But my memories go back to my MGA, and now our 2 x HS are making new memories each day.

We purchased this car back in June in Sydney. It was great until we attempted to drive her back to Adelaide via Broken Hill. Was doing well even managed a couple of laps around Mt Panorama. Unfortunately, we seized a bearing halfway and had it trucked home in the end. Bring on the engine rebuild :)

As a kid I always loved the shape and look of the MGB. My uncle had a beautiful red MGB when I was growing up and my Dad always used to tell me about the MGB's that he and Mum had before I was born. I knew when I was older and could afford one I had to have one. This black 1964 MGB was the first one.

I took the MG by boat from Melbourne to Tasmania and toured Tasmania , enjoying its roads and scenery. The car loved the trip.

My favourite memory so far is me in my "MG MELZY MOBILE" towing a whooping 10,000 litre rain water tank through the streets of Adelaide!! Oh...the looks I got that day were priceless! Especially with my personalised MELZY number plates.

I bought the MGY in 1964 for 25 pounds (pre decimal currency), & drove it every day for several years until it was involved in an accident. Because of the damage, the body couldn't be repaired, so it was made into a racing special with a new aluminium body. I'm just so happy it's still alive.

I love it when my MGA reignites or sparks new memories in others. I’ve had Seniors burst into applause as I drive past, spent 20 minutes at petrol stations as strangers share their own MG experiences, children cheering and pointing in excitement.

I've owned MG's almost all my life. This car is my 1934 P-type originally imported as a chassis and bodied by CFS Aspinall & Sons of Armadale. It is supercharged and has a Preselector gearbox and is unbelievably fun to drive. (Photo by Robin Page).

In 1947 a MG TC won the Australian GP at Bathurst competing against Mercedes, Bugatti’s, and Jaguars. For the next 6 years TC’s placed in almost all Australian GP’s, not bad for a car design that was by then over 20 years old. Famous owners have ranged from actors to royalty.

My favourite MG memory was when I first got the car. My MG3 was an 18th birthday present. I wasn’t supposed to receive the car until my birthday but my mum surprised me and we picked it up the weekend before. I love my yellow MG and I love when you drive around and it feels like family!

My 1954 MG TF, the first car I purchased in 1966 aged 17, l am now 72. Having the pleasure of winning many MGCC Concourse De Elegance over the past 50 years, from National to Outright and Class wins. My grandchildren at the age of 4 and 6 got their first car, they call it an MGTF, just like mine.

I was lucky enough to purchase my 1956 MGA 1500 sight unseen as soon as it appeared for sale on the internet. It was a one owner "very original" deceased estate sale. The three year restoration process has ended in a most enjoyable and pleasing completion. A vehicle to be driven and enjoyed.

MGA Twin Cam, 1959

After getting my twin cam coupe as a true basket case - a shell and boxes of parts, and 12 years of work, it is now running as it should. One of only 327 twin cam coupes produced, it was originally sold in the USA but spent some time in Japan before being imported to Australia.

The restoration of my 1960 MGA to original factory condition was a journey of many memorable experiences. Memories continue as I watch the joy on the faces of all who interact with the car. For many it is their first experience with the MG Marque.

We have had our MG TF for 11 years, during this time we have enjoyed many car shows, displays, and Sunday morning breakfast runs with friends who also have a variety of classic MG's. Our favourite drives are country roads in the hills north of Brisbane and beachside destinations around Moreton Bay.

My best memory of my TF is the resurrection of pile of bits and pieces, apart since 1972 and moved to various locations before I purchased the vehicle. The people I met during the rebuild that gave me the inspiration and knowledge to continue to a finished car.

We have had our MGC for 30 years and it has been a very reliable car. We have completed several long distance trips where it is at its best on the open road.

Seeing the John Hughes ad for the MG3 for the first time on TV, loving the car and going for a test drive and deciding to buy it. Best part was picking my car up. Had a lovely red ribbon on the bonnet and Joe ( Sales Rep) took my picture with the car handed my the car keys, I was so excited!

Favourite memory: spending the day with my Dad before he passed away, in my MGB driving up from Sydney to Brooklyn for a pub lunch and back again with my Dad’s smiling the entire time entire time.

Coming home from a shop about 1km from home, I discovered that she would not turn left as we left the car park. Tried first to get home by only doing right turns, but had to hold up traffic while I did a 15 point turn at one point instead. Fixed with some brute force on some jack stands at home.

My memories are still being created. I took delivery of the ZS EV and it was the first step in exiting my dependence on fossil fuels. This meant that I have been much more able to take my family on trips and give them much more experiences of the city from museums to bushwalks.

My favourite MG memory is taking it for daily work and business trips. In holidays and weekends, having short and long drives eg. Lake Jindabyne, Norah Head etc.

Just after we got our brand new MG GS, we started a tradition of weekend drives all around regional Victoria making memories with our family, memories that our kids will never forgot.

On one holiday as we approached the numerous punts across the Murray River we took care to preserve the MG on the entry and exit ramps but accepted the look from other envious drivers. We also enjoyed the aromas of river red gums on an open top tour.

The best experience of joy of seeing my brand new MG ZS, in all her glory. Bright white and shiny with a big red bow. Sitting inside for the first time was like getting a big warm hug from mum.

My 1949 TC was made the same year as I was. It has had famous owners including Tim Wall, racing mechanic to Jack Brabham. My first car when 18 years of age was also a 1949 red TC. My generalised memory over the years is of pride fun and enjoyment. A young current co owner shares my feelings.

Favourite memory: the day we bought my dad’s first MGB. We bought it from a friend of a friend who had passed away recently and wanted his cars to be enjoyed once had gone. When we were there to pick up the MGB, dad told me he had also bought me one too! An red 1968 MGB not runnings at the time! Still working on it!

The first time I saw her, I bought her the same day. I call her Miss Gorgeous MG aka Mighty Good-looking MG - MG get it - and she's definitely all that. I purchased her to be used as a bridal car in my business Classy Car Hire Braybrook - Classic British cars with class for special occasions.

What could have been a disaster during the 2019 Wagga MGCC Gathering of the Faithful - wheel bearing failure - turned into a triumph. The club helped me recover our MGB GT safely (in time for the formal dinner!) AND awarded us Best MGB GT of the meet! We're part of a great family!

I sold my 1947 Jaguar at 17 years so I could buy my MGA MK11 so it would be waiting in my garage when I turned 18. What a car and I went on to become a multiple MG owner and today I have a very original 1966 mk1 MGB in Marine Blue and in pretty good nick.

I recently bought my new MG ZS and I am proud to be saying that I have purchased an awesome car. It is a really good looking and its very comfortable for a family at very reasonable price. It was a very smooth drive with driving this car. Just love it!

"Dandelion" is a focal point where ever I go, lots of compliments and questions why I love her. Loved purchasing experience, have fun showing her off everyday. We had a Show and Shine here at Lifestyle in 2020 and what a great day it was. Another great memory was when we set out for a day in August 2020 with a forecast for fog early and then clearing to a fine day of 14. Well with the top off in -1 we set off but the problem was it didn’t get higher than 7 brr!

My favourite MG memory is the restoration of my 1929 M-Type, initially over period of 5 years in the 1960s from a rusty rolling chassis to a drivable car. That was 50 years ago, and she has been rallied around around New Zealand, Tasmania and the East Coast of Australia enjoyably since.

Many places we have been in it over the 30 years we have owned the car, taking it on National meetings including twice to Tasmania. We have also added an MG3 for the longer trips to add a bit of comfort.

Here are photos of my MGF which I purchased recently. I have not driven it much because of Victorian lockdown rules. I am looking forward to when lockdown finishes and I can drive it on runs with the Ballarat group of the MG Car Club Victortia. I may even enter club competition.

My new car had to be super efficient - but still be able to tow a trailer - that meant a plug-in hybrid was the best of both worlds. I got an excellent deal on the car, the power, AND also got a super deal on the snazzy vinyl wrap job - my pride and joy really stands out from the crowd!

Everywhere, everyone has a story; the MGF they rebuilt when they got their first job, the Midget they drove from England to Greece every Christmas, the time they fell in love not just with the car but with those who journeyed with them, all those forever moments; those are my favourite memories.

When the family expands, so does the need to increase the number of seats in the roadster from 2 seats to 5 seats in the Magnette. This event was a club lunch, with the whole family in tow (after installing baby seat anchors in the rear seats to accommodate the baby capsule). Happy days.

Sometimes the progress is slow, yet still time to display the rolling chassis at the club concours d'elegance. It receives a lot more critical attention as the work is inspected by the experts.

2 weeks after taking delivery of our EV, we decided to go on a road trip from Melbourne to Sydney, return. It was a case of check out the infrastructure in the early days of EV, and whether or not range anxiety is real or imagined.

This year I brought 'GRLKND' to life, a small charity reducing the national youth suicide rate. My best memories in my MG3 include morning drives to schools, buzzing with excitement. I've got the number plates to match, and roped my Mum into the MG3 life - family who drive together, strive together.

Favourite memory: my 1953 TD on the first drive out after a 12 month overhaul and engine rebuild. I have owned and driven the TD for over 50 years, in the UK, Europe and now WA.

I have always wanted an MGA so I am so thrilled to have been able to purchase this beautiful car recently. 

MG TB Special, 1939

I've been living with MGs all my life thanks to my dad's wacky interest in them. This car, a 1939 TB special in the style of the iconic 1934 MGK3, is his latest restoration and I love it. I'm allowed to drive it and take it on the race track. It is absolutely awesome!

What I love about my RV8 is that you can enjoy a luxury classic drive during the week and participate in Club sporty activities on the weekend.

Favourite memory: picking up my MG TF and driving it from Sydney. Only has 26,500 kilometers on the clock.

Favourite memory: driving around Port Phillip Bay, meeting a friend with his MGB sharing lunch and then the ferry across to Sorrento and home. Top down all the way.

Favourite memory: road tripping up the coastline from Brisbane through the Sunshine Coast through to Noosa Heads. Having fish and chips out of the boot whilst watching the waves roll in.

MG TD Special, 1949

My MG TD special was re-bodied in aluminium by a Melbourne competitor in the late 60's. It has since been campaigned successfully at many circuits around Australia.

MG TC, 1948

My favourite MG memory is my grandfathers MG TC #4459 purchased in 1964 as a restoration project. It then passed to my father in the 90s, then to me in 2015 and eventually my daughter will be next. The story began in 1948, but it will never end.

Favourite memory: touring the East Coast of Tasmania in my '64 Midget with my future wife. This was not long after a mammoth restoration, as the Midget is my first car and had been my daily driver for many years.

I was running in a Super Sprint event at Tailem Bend Motorsport Park as part of the MG Challenge weekend. It was a glorious, blue sky, sunny day, the car was running beautifully, and I caught and passed my arch-rival, both of us in our MGA’s.

My best memory with our 1934 MGPA special is flying around the Victoria park street circuit in Adelaide at the Adelaide Motorsport Festival along side some classic open wheelers and other vintage race cars.

I started taking part in competition driving 5 years ago. To date, the highlights have definitely have been taking part in Albany Classic Round, The Houses and Northam Flying Fifties. In my first year 2018, driving the Albany Classic regularity, I ‘won’ 2 of the races”.

The MG TF. Was found as a barn find in the 1970s . Restoration to save the TF was commenced in 2010 and completed in 2011 . The car always draws a crowd when parked on a club run .

My best memories are still being made every time I take my beautiful old 49 TC out. Whether it’s an MG club meet up, giving her a DIY day spa detail, tinkering around under the bonnet, or just a Sunday drive around the Gold Coast hinterland with my little dog Leo as my passenger. I LOVE my TC!

It was a fantastic spring day when we drove from Ballarat to Yandoit in Victoria last year. The old stone buildings at Yandoit reminded the MGA of being in England. On our return drive home we came through the small town of Dean. The MGA wanted it's photo taken in front of another great old building!

My favourite MG memory is taking my three children for their first ride in Ruby and opening the sunroof to hear their squeals of joy. Love at first sight.

Favourite memory: picking up our family MG HS from Gold Coast MG. It has been a delight to drive and we will be looking at getting another new MG soon! The debate on which MG will be the tough decision. Either way, we will be back to meet the team to discuss. Just look at the beautiful front of our MG HS.

I saw this bad boy on the highway. Since that moment I wanted to test drive. After doing so a month later, I felt this car's performance, style, features and price combined will awake even the laziest of mankind.

I have a 1971 MGB Roadster, restored in 2000 with a full bare metal restoration. It is my pride and joy that I love taking out on club runs, providing it is dry weather. When I do take the car out it is usually with my passenger, a golden retriever. I also have an MG6, which is my daily drive.

Favourite memory: I love my MG3 and driving over to see my friends at Bronte Beach. Looking forward to cruising down to the beach again in summer and loading up my MG3 with the picnic, sun block and towels.

MGB MKII and BL, 1968

Favourite Memory: Preparation to export my 1968 MGB to Australia when my wife and I emigrated from the UK in 2018. The car was tested for asbestos by a UKAS approved testing company. This resulted in the exhaust manifold being replaced. The car was picked up for shipping and delivered to our new home in Corlette NSW.

MGB MKI, 1964

It’s never too early to drive an MG. The grand kids just love my Mk I 1964 MGB. I bought this car nearly thirty years ago as a beat up paddock basher. It took me a few years of love and hard work to do a bare metal restoration to bring it to its present reliable condition.

I have owned my 1997 MGF VVC since 2003 and have enjoyed many years of successful competition and concourse wins (incl at Nat Meets). My car was the third MGF registered in NSW after their release in 1997, and I was surprised to find that it had been built on the 15th January, which is my birthday.

In 1983 I bought a 1970 MG MGB Mk 11 in Primose Yellow and had a lot of work done to bring up it up to pristine condition including having it completely resprayed in a match perfect Primrose Yellow. Such a great roadster.

Favourite memory: driving out of the dealership and showing it off to my parents, which made them buy one as well. Mine is black and dad has a blue one!

Favourite memory: touring Europe and NZ in the MGA. I've done it twice now, and looking forward to the next one in 2025!

I have had MGs since I was 18. My first MG was a red 1948 MG TC. 50 odd years later, I still have one in concourse condition. It is supercharged with a 1952 period Judson supercharger.

My best memories are the eight or nine days tours with Sydney MG Car Club. Driving outback in our beautiful country. Wonderful friends visiting interesting venues and landmarks. MG memories that'll last a lifetime. What could be better?

Favourite memory: top down driving through the outer reaches of Sydney (Hawkesbury, Blue Mountains). Smelling the scents of the country side, sensing the cool air, feeling the wind and hearing the engine noises and feeling the road. I was born into MG! But after 28 years, my best memory was at 40 my dad finally forgiving me for almost crashing his MG at 17 and finally getting to drive my (dads) car with him driving our other MGB down Yarra Valley with roof off, listening to road to nowhere. Now we have added a new MG3 to the family.

MGB Rubber Bumper Roadster (1975-1980), 1977

Favourite memory: opening the garage door on a sunny Saturday morning, warming up the 1800cc engine, stowing the soft roof behind the seats and deciding where to drive. One of my favourites is from the mountains to the lake to enjoy a picnic, then slowly make the way home in the afternoon.

My favourite memory would be sharing my MGB with my son, Matthew, as we contested many hill climbs and super sprints with the car.

My best memory is being driven in an MG by my Uncle when I was about 8 to an air show where I got to “fly” a Spitfire and meet Battle of Britain pilots. I was given an officers hat which I wore when driving with the roof down through the country lanes.

My favourite memory is driving my MGA along country roads in the area around the ACT with the top down and a line of MGs from the local Club strung out before me and in the rear view mirror.

Bracing mid-winter runs up through the Adelaide Hills with roof down, the heater cranked up, the crackle of the exhaust on the overrun into a sweeping bend and your partner by your side. Can't think of a better way to spend a day!

I thought to myself, the MG has a sexy reputation. How am I going to give my new little MG3 the sex appeal of MGs in bygone days? New model (the car) old model (me). Was a tongue in cheek photo shoot and a load of fun, just like driving the cheeky little MG3 - lots of fun.

I’ve had my car for almost a year and have had so many amazing moments! I’ve driven Maggie all the way from Perth to Sydney and had so many great times along the way! I think my favourite moment was driving the Great Ocean Road. I always feel safe in my MG, even on such long drives. I love my car!

Having rested in a shed for 37 years, this TF (1500) is the last of the famous T series cars and deserved to be given a new life. It is a regular on weekends-away and Club runs and always features at the Club displays.

Favourite memory: the arrival of my black ZST Excite on a car carry to my house for delivery, and thinking is that really mine. Then taking the black beauty for the first drive and being amazed by the whole driving experience which keeps on getting better every time we drive. I’m in love!

Our son arrived in the world and our car was born too. For us, 2 babies in year. That's how special this car is. We blessed this car the Korean way for safety, poured rice wine on the tyres. This car has already given us so many happy memories on road trips. Lucky us!

I thought it was a prank and hung up twice! My mum answered them on the 3rd call and IT was real, I had won an MG3 from John Hughes and had forgotten I entered a competition. UNREAL!

MGA Roadster 1600 Mk11, 1962

I have just realised a 40 year dream. I fell in love with this beautiful little car in 1981 (MGA). I have been completely obsessed ever since. This year I managed to purchase my car......it's stunning and I couldn't be happier.

I bought my MG ZS in 2018. What I love about my SUV is it still looks ultra modern 3 years later. It also will look modern in 5 years time. I had a Nissan X-Trail before my MG and I thought that was my favourite car until I bought my MG. I have nicknamed my car JET because while it's a 1.5L, it runs.

My favourite memory is the moment I picked my new baby from the show room floor! The shine, the big red bow - it was all so magical! The team at Cranbourne MG were fabulous and even allowed my dog to enjoy the experience with me since after all, the upgrade was for all the adventures we'd be going!

This is our Replica of old Number 1 (1925). Restored by my Father in Law. It resides in Canberra with his family and is used regularly.

Having received my new MG ZS EV in lockdown, with a 5km travel zone, it was awesome on Tuesday to have to drive out for work. Roof open, sun shining … fabulous fun!
